Studio Policy Statement

Introductory Lesson

Before beginning piano lessons, parents (for minor-aged students) or prospective students should schedule a free introductory lesson. During this 30-minute lesson, the student's abilities and level of advancement will be assessed. As all lessons are individualized, this step is crucial to prepare properly for future lessons with the student.

Lesson Attendance

Regular and punctual attendance of lessons is of the utmost importance for the successful study of piano. Missed lessons result in broken continuity, a decline in interest, and a loss of progress.

Make-Up
Policy

When registering for lessons, kindly choose a lesson day and time that will work consistently with your schedule.

  • Lessons should only be missed in the event of an illness, emergency, or unavoidable conflict.

  • Notification of a canceled lesson must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order to request a make-up lesson.

  • It is the strict policy of the studio that no-show lessons are ineligible for make-ups or refunds.

Teacher/Parent Cooperation

A student's success relies heavily on the teamwork of the student, parents, and teacher. For minor-aged students, parents should help and encourage at-home practice on a daily basis. Your reminders and encouragement, as parents, will help the student's progression immensely.

Practice Expectations

Students of all ages should aim to practice on a daily basis. Practice is taken seriously and is essential for progress in piano. The times listed below are an acceptable average for daily practice:

  • Age 6-7 – Beginner students at this age should practice between 10-15 minutes a day.

  • Age 8-10 – Aim for 15-20 minutes of daily practice for beginners and 20-25 minutes a day for intermediate and advanced students.

  • Ages 10+ – Beginner students should practice 20-25 minutes a day. Intermediate students should aim for at least 30-60 minutes daily, and for advanced students, 60 minutes is usually necessary for meaningful progression.

Payment Terms

Monthly tuition guarantees 4 weeks of lessons per month. Tuition is due by the 1st day of the month. Students will receive a tuition statement the week before tuition is due. Bring the payment (cash or check) or send it via Zelle by the first lesson of each month.

Adjustments made for holidays or studio closures will be reflected on tuition statements.
